Historical Data Explained

One of Scout's key capabilities is preserving historical information from advertisements that may no longer be available online.

What Is Historical Data?

Historical data is stored in the Legentic Platform for 5 years and it includes information collected from advertisements that have since been modified, updated, or removed from their original source.

This may include:

  • Previous seller names

  • Historical phone numbers

  • Historical email addresses

  • Older images

  • Previous locations

  • Earlier advertisement descriptions

Historical information can help reveal connections that may not be visible in current advertisements.

Published Date vs. Collection Date

When available, Scout displays the original publication date provided by the source.

If a publication date is not available, Scout uses the date on which the advertisement was first collected by the platform. As a result, the displayed date may sometimes reflect when Scout first observed the advertisement rather than when it was originally published online.

Why Historical Data Matters

Historical records often provide valuable context and can help identify changes in seller activity, contact information, vehicle details, or other attributes over time.
